Thompson Institute

Transforming lives through mental health research, training and treatment

Trusted. Trailblazing.

UniSC’s Thompson Institute addresses society’s most pressing mental health issues. We integrate world-class research, clinical programs and education under one roof, to translate the latest science into programs that benefit society. Everything we do is underpinned by neuroscience. This uncovers promising new insights into mental health and how it is linked to our brain structure and function.

Hope for trauma survivors

The National PTSD Research Centre pursues solutions for the 1.4 million Australians living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The centre is the first of its kind in Australia, bringing together advanced neuroscience and psychotherapies, to unveil crucial insights into how PTSD and traumatic stress are linked to brain structure and function.

Our integrated programs

As we research enduring solutions for the future, we simultaneously deliver evidence-based support for communities today. Through integrating research with education, clinical services, and community engagement, we put the latest science into practice.
